Disclaimer: About This Blog

THIS BLOG IS: my personal journey of how I am rethinking some of my spiritual beliefs.
THIS BLOG IS NOT: intended to point fingers at people who I think are wrong.
I do not believe the final judgement will be based on how many correct answers we get on a theology exam. I believe many people throughout history have had genuine relationships with God, despite holding questionable beliefs and practices. I make no claim to having it all figured out or being your judge. If we end up disagreeing over these topics I pray we can find a way to demonstrate grace.

Fellowship

The term Communion is derived from Latin communio (sharing in common). The corresponding term in Greek is κοινωνία, which is often translated as "fellowship". In Christianity, the basic meaning of the term communion is an especially close relationship of Christians, as individuals or as a Church, with God and with other Christians.

The word κοινωνία (koinonia) was in use in Greek even before the advent of Christianity. In classical Greek, it could apply to a business partnership, to fellowship of life in marriage, to a spiritual relationship with a god such as Zeus, to comradely fellowship between friends, to a community or society.

This summer I've enjoyed some great fellowship around campfires, on friends decks, around dinner tables, and in living rooms. I've had some brief fellowship on Sunday mornings before and after the service. But I think the campfires were the best though. :)

So what do you think the best setting for fellowship is?

I knew something was wrong with this summer.

I missed the campfires! (All campfires were banned for the summer due to extreme forest fire danger)

The ban is finally lifted. Time for some real fellowship :-)

Our church practices a lot of fellowship, just got home from camping with about half of the church over a three day weekend. While we love fellowship we still need to grow in Grace and knowledge of our Lord, that is what church is all about. That is why I love Sunday school. We rotate teachers ,usually every year and its a free for all time to discuss Gods work and how it applies to us.

Thanks wewally. I'm glad to hear you are able to enjoy fellowship with other believers. It is a great way to experience being part of Christ's body.

I also agree that church is crucial for our growth in grace and knowledge of our Lord. I just don't define church as a Sunday morning event, institution or corporation. If you look at how 'church' is used in Scripture it describes the followers of Jesus in different regions (the church at Jerusalem - all the members of Christ's body in Jerusalem, not likely referring to a meeting place and time when they all gathered in one really large house). We don't go to church. We are the church. Slight difference but important I think.

God bless! Thanks for stopping by and putting up with my random thoughts!
